The last party of the summer

Last Saturday we had a family gathering at home to celebrate Pedro's recovery and my name day (the 12th of October is the day of the Virgin of Pilar).

We invited all our family and prepared the patio for a lot of people in case they all suddenly decided to appear!  We had prepared some dishes but they all collaborated too.

Pedro marinated some salmon,  I prepared 'salmorejo' and roasted red pepper salad. My brother Pablo brought a delicious apple pie and his specialty: leek pudding, and my sister Carmen prepared a wonderful 'ensaladilla rusa'. My youngest brother Nicolas bought some elegant snacks at a delicatessen shop. He said he had not time for cooking!  And my sister Teresa chose to bring some frozen prawns that we had to boil when she arrived!

Will there be enough?

All in all, we had a great day together, lots of food, some drinks, laughter and chatting and the little ones even dared to swim in the pool. It was their last option, since we closed

the pool on Monday. Summer is over!

Christmas Day in summer

I took out some toys for little Juan and Manuel (my great-nephews, ages 6 and 4). Lucas, my 12-year-old grandson, says he's not going to use them anymore and he gave me his permission on his last visit. So I gave the kids an electric train and a little plane. They played with the toys all day and when I told them they could take them home, they said, "Thank you, Auntie. It's almost like Christmas Day!"
